Evaluation of effect of nilotinib in an experimental corneal neovascularization model

Aim: This study aims to investigate the neovascularization-inhibiting effect of topical nilotinib and determine effective dose nilotinib.
 Material Method: In this study, 42 healthy Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into six groups. The left corneas all except group 1 cauterized with silver nitrate. Group was control, no corneal vascularization, which did not receive any treatment; 2 (sham) treatment, only DMSO; Groups 3, 4, 5 received at doses 10, 20, 40 μM three times a day, respectively; 6 mg/dL bevacizumab for day seven days. On 8th photographs taken, percentage neovascularization area calculated. Following being killed via anesthesia, removed levels vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) platelet-derived (PDGF) ELISA immune staining.
